The Alternative is an initiative formed by a network of political activists and pro-democracy forces inside Iran, aimed at contributing to the development of a credible and national alternative to the Islamic Republic.
This initiative seeks to create coordination and cooperation among republican activists, civil society actors, and political advocates who believe in freedom, democracy, human rights, and national independence.
Its goal is to support a low-cost and peaceful transition toward a secular, democratic, and decentralized republic, whose ultimate structure will be determined by the people of Iran through free elections and a constituent assembly.
The Alternative also aims to foster dialogue and cooperation between pro-democracy forces inside the country and Iranians abroad, while establishing constructive engagement with the international community based on national independence and the interests of the Iranian people.
Given the security conditions inside the country, the public voice of this initiative is conveyed through spokespersons who are based outside Iran and are formally introduced.
Shilan Mirzaee is a political and human rights activist based in Toronto who is committed to the principles of nationalism, social justice, equal rights for all citizens, and the preservation of Iran’s territorial integrity. According to the first statement of the “Strategic Council of Republican Forces Inside Iran,” she has been introduced as the spokesperson of the council. She works to strengthen connections between the Iranian opposition abroad and the council, focusing on building effective communication bridges and fostering inclusive, pluralistic participation to achieve shared national goals.
